Student ID cards
The Student Gateway produce student ID cards (also known as smart cards) for all students. You will need these to access many of our services and buildings, so you must keep your card safe. If you need a new or replacement smart card, we will issue the card to you in person.
New student cards
If you are a new student to 51Âþ», once you have fully registered on your course, how you will get your student ID card will depend on your student type.
Overseas students (including former EU student type)
If you are an overseas fee paying student you will be given your card with you attend your face to face registration appointment. you will provided your card either at your registration event or via your faculty.
Home students (including progressing 51Âþ» International College students)
If you are a home fee paying student you will be given your card by your faculty from induction week onwards, and only if you have fully completed the registration process.
Current student cards
Lost cards
If you have lost your card, you will be required to pay a charge for a replacement. You can do this through the and we will let you know when you can collect it. Alternatively, you can visit us in the Student Gateway during our opening hours.
Expired cards
If your card has expired due to an extension of your studies, please contact us at smartcards@dmu.ac.uk; we will produce a replacement card for you and advise you how to collect it. Alternatively, you can visit us in the Student Gateway during our opening hours.
Broken cards
If your card is not working, please contact us on smartcards@dmu.ac.uk. Alternatively, you can visit us in the Student Gateway during our opening hours.
