Information about your online Class of 2020 celebrations


Our online celebration events paying tribute to the Class of 2020 will take place next week between 18 and 21 August across our digital and social media channels. We’re looking forward to celebrating and spotlighting the hundreds of extraordinary and unique success stories at 51Âþ»­.  

The online events are aimed at students who would have been graduating in a physical ceremony this July.

What’s happening during your online celebration event  

Your online celebration event will include speeches from the Interim Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andy Collop and the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of your faculty. There will also be a rousing performance from the 51Âþ»­ Gospel Choir and a speech and poem from the De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) Executive Team.

That's not all, we will also be putting our graduands centre stage throughout the week across out social media channels (, , and ) through a variety of activities (using the hashtag #51Âþ»­grads) so there is plenty for you to get involved in.

On each day at 2pm, there will be a livestream hosted by a member of the DSU for you to join, chat and reminisce with other graduates. You can have a go at our TikTok challenge, take a photo with our Class of 2020 photo booth props, use our Class of 2020 Instagram filter and watch congratulatory videos from your academics and other 51Âþ»­ staff members.

We'll also be sharing lots of inspirational messages from 51Âþ»­ alumni, honourands and other special guests. Remember to look out for your 51Âþ»­ memories photos, too!

How to join  

You can access the events and lots of the above content by going to our  on the day of your faculty’s celebration from 10am. You and your family and friends are welcome to join the celebrations at any point during the day and beyond, as the ceremonies will stay online for you to enjoy at a time that works for you.
