Planned downtime for internet services in various buildings during December

We’re upgrading the internet and Wi-Fi network in the Eric Wood and Portland buildings, plus The Venue, The Watershed, Beaumont Park, QEII Leisure Centre and Bede Island on selected days during December.

This is part of our ongoing work to give you:  

  • A faster, more reliable internet connection across 51Âþ»­ Leicester buildings
  • Enhanced cyber security 
  • Better support for digital learning and collaboration at 51Âþ»­. 

All computers and internet access in the affected buildings will be offline during the work, which is scheduled for these days and times:

Friday 6 December

Saturday 7 December

Portland Building

Monday 9 December

From 6pm until late

The Venue

Tuesday 10 December

From 6pm until late

The Watershed

Wednesday 11 December

All morning

QEII Leisure Centre

Wednesday 11 December

From 6pm until late

Beaumont Park

Thursday 12 December

 From 6pm until late  Bede Island

Need to use a computer or the internet during this time? Simply go to one of the in another building where there are computers and Wi-Fi available.  

If you’re using 4G or 5G mobile internet on your devices, they won’t be affected by this work.  

Services should be back to normal by the time each building reopens on the morning after the upgrade.
