Reminder: Government hardship fund now available and IT access hardship scheme open to students


We know that some students may have been financially impacted throughout the pandemic, experiencing difficulty supplementing their income in the current job market and struggling with living costs. Some students have also experienced difficulty accessing the IT equipment they need to continue studying effectively during this latest national lockdown. We want to make you aware of access to a Government hardship fund and 51Âþ»­’s IT access hardship scheme if you are experiencing these problems.

Government hardship fund

We want to make sure students are fully supported during this time and to help with this, the Government and Office for Students (OFS) has provided money for us to administer a hardship fund. This will help students with a small contribution towards living costs. 

You can also apply to the 51Âþ»­ Support Fund. 51Âþ»­ is donating extra monies to this fund - you can find out more information and what you may be eligible for by visiting this webpage.

IT access hardship scheme

For students unable to access campus to use IT equipment and facilities that are crucial for your studies, you can apply to our IT access hardship scheme. All you need to do is fill in this application form to be considered for support (full guidance on eligibility is available here).
