Graduation ceremonies

Our next graduation ceremonies will take place between 11-14 February 2025.

Student bookings for February 2025 graduation ceremonies closed on 16th December. 

 

Summer graduation ceremonies will take place in August and invitations will be issued to eligible students in the Spring.

  1. Invitations

    Eligible students will receive an email invitation from Academic Awards on 18 November 2024, which is sent to your 51Âþ»­ alumni email address and any personal email address you registered on the university’s student record system. Student bookings for February 2025 graduation ceremonies closed on 16th December. Summer graduation ceremonies will take place in August and invitations will be issued to eligible students in the Spring. .

    If you haven’t received an invite and have checked your junk mail, contact the graduation team by email at academicawards@dmu.ac.uk, or by phone on +44 (0) 116 257 7307 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm).

    When you receive the email invitation, you will need your student ID, or P number, to book your place on the system. When entering your P number, remove the 'P' and just enter the number.

  2. Eligibility criteria

    The ceremonies are for students who have passed ALL elements of their course between the dates of 1 July 2024 and 29 November 2024, confirmed at 51Âþ»­ Assessment Boards. Please note that graduation booking will close on 16 December at 5pm so if you expect to pass still book your graduation place and guest tickets, your booking, you can always cancel the booking later. These are strict deadlines; any student who passes after 29 November, will be invited to our summer ceremonies in 2025. This also includes where reassessed work has been submitted but not finalised before 29 November.

    Students must pass all of their course between 1 July and 29 November 2024, confirmed at 51Âþ»­ Assessment Boards.

    Students who pass after 29 November will attend Summer Graduation ceremonies.

    This includes provisional marks not confirmed at 51Âþ»­ Assessment Boards, including partner colleges.

    Research degree students must have received notice of their final completion by the Doctoral by 29 November

    The closing date to book your place at the graduation ceremony is 16 December at 5pm. We recommend not leaving your booking to the last minute!

  3. Graduation Robing and Photography

    For information on hiring your graduation gown, official photography packages and guest tickets, visit preparing for your graduation.

  4. Graduation Support Fund

    We understand that some students may be unable to meet the cost of robe hire and guest tickets for their guests. The University Graduation Support Fund aims to help students who face financial difficulty in meeting the costs of attending their graduation.

    You may be eligible to apply for this fund, an application form and supporting evidence is required.

    The Graduation Support Fund will open 12 noon on 18 November and closes on 16 December at 5pm. Applications received after this time will not be accepted

  5. Key dates to note

    Some ceremonies fill up quickly, so seating might be limited; we strongly advise that you book straight away to avoid disappointment. If after booking you can no longer attend, you can cancel later.

    The key dates to remember are:

    • Graduation bookings open 12 noon on 18 November 2024 and close on 16 December at 5pm
    • Guest ticket bookings open 12 noon on 18 November 2024 for up to two initial guest tickets at £19 each. Guest ticket bookings closes on 16 December at 5pm
    • Graduation robe hire opens 12 noon on 18 November 2024 and closes on 31 January 2025 at 5pm
    • Additional guest tickets – if they are available – will go on sale on the university’s online store on 20 December on a staggered by ceremony basis until 6 January 2025, subject to availability and sold on a first come, first served basis. Please note there is no guarantee that additional tickets will be available

Degree certificates

Certificates not issued at our February ceremonies will be posted after the ceremonies to the permanent address that is registered on the university's student record system.

If you no longer have access to your student record via My51Âþ»­ and believe your permanent address is different to our records, please email academicawards@dmu.ac.uk stating your name, course and P number.

Please note that certificate collection in person at the university campus is not available.
