We have been receiving a number of queries related to the return of international students to campus for the upcoming academic year.
We know that campus life is a fundamental part of our students’ university experience and we look forward to welcoming you back to Leicester for the start of term.
The package of learning that we have developed for your studies this year is based on our students being able to engage with learning as a UK resident student. No courses will be offered fully online; all programmes will have a live, on campus element, to ensure that you gain as full a 51Âþ» experience as possible. All students will benefit from on-campus opportunities, for both teaching and study support, including access to specialist spaces such as the library and other facilities.
Face-Mask-Main
We know that in some cases, students may face difficulties attending their face-to-face sessions or returning to campus, such as:
1. If travel is impossible due to transport issues – for example, students travelling from countries where airports are closed. Students are expected to return to the UK and campus as soon as these restrictions are lifted.
2. If a student has COVID-19, is showing symptoms and awaiting the outcome of a test, or has been in contact with someone with COVID-19 and is required to isolate. Students are expected to return to the UK and campus as soon as they recover and are no longer required to isolate.
3. If a student is otherwise required to quarantine. Students will be expected to return to campus as soon as the quarantine period has ended.
4. If a student lives in an area in a local lockdown. Students will be expected to return to campus as soon as the lockdown has been lifted.
Please be reassured that if this is the case, we are putting plans in place to support you so that you can continue your studies. If any of these circumstances apply to you, please contact your faculty Student Advice Centre as soon as possible, and provide a date of when you will be able to return, if you can.
We’ve been working hard to make sure that our campus is safe for you to enjoy, by implementing thorough safety and hygiene measures across our buildings including hand sanitiser points, one-way systems where possible, enhanced cleaning measures and more. You can find out more about these measures on our dedicated FAQ page.
However, if you have a health condition, disability or mental health condition which you think may impact on your return to study, our disability and mental health teams will be able to offer advice. If you have any particular anxieties about returning to campus or participating in face-to-face learning then please contact your faculty Student Advice Centre.
Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you on campus soon.
