I know this year hasn’t been easy. When you thought about this year of university, I’m sure you never expected to be learning like this, or for your experience to be so incredibly different from previous years. However, I want to assure you we are here to help and support you no matter how you’re feeling!

It is now more important than ever that we look after ourselves and each other. So, to help us support you, I want to know how you’re feeling and what is important to you!

Are You Okay? - Your space. Your voice. We are listening!

At DSU, we have created our ‘Are You Okay?’ campaign and joined forces with 51Âþ» to give you the space to tell us how you are feeling regardless of your emotion - whether that be happy, sad, angry or excited!

We want to hear what you think so we can work with the university to ensure everything we are doing is to support you.

Throughout the academic year, you can tell us how you are feeling by filling out our Are You Okay? Survey at demontfortsu.com/AreYouOkay.

From next week, we will also be showcasing the support that is available to you from both DSU and 51Âþ». We’ll be focusing on four main themes throughout December 2020 and January 2021 (and beyond):

  • Healthy 51Âþ»
  • DSU support, including sports and societies
  • Teaching and learning
  • Friendship and community

Make sure to keep an eye on our social media channels (@demontfortsu/@dmuleicester), your student email and our website y to find out more. You’ll also be able to enter some fantastic competitions with iPads as prizes so don’t miss out!

I really want to hear from you to make sure that as your elected officers we are working as hard as we can to support you, as I feel it’s so important, now more than ever.

You can also provide feedback on your university experience by:

  • Getting in touch with your Course Rep with any ideas or suggestions you might have about your course. You can find out more about Course Reps and search for yours .
  • Filling in the Module Level Feedback Survey (MLF).
  • Get in touch with me or any of the other . We’re here to represent you and make sure you are listened to.

I am so proud of you, I know it can’t be easy adapting to a new routine or a new structure of learning but you are doing incredibly well.

Stay safe, stay kind and I’ll speak to you again soon.

All my best,

Laura
