Have your say for Black History Month 2023

For the next season of Black History Month, we are opening up the applications to the wider university to ensure we offer a variety of activities, workshops and events that best reflect 51Âþ» and engage as many people throughout the month-long programme as possible.

If you would like to submit an idea to be considered for the Black History Month 2023 programme, please send a proposal to equality@dmu.ac.uk by close of business on Friday 17 March.

For consideration, your proposal must include the following:

  • The preferred day and time during October you would want it to happen (if you have a preference)
  • A small paragraph detailing the activity, what it would entail and the target audience you feel the event would appeal to
  • A detailed budget
  • The type of support that would be required for you to deliver the event

You can also send through suggestions for content you would like us to include on the dedicated Black History Month microsite.

All suggestions will be discussed by the project board, which includes representatives from the Race Equality Network and De Montfort Students’ Union. Those who made selected proposals will be contacted by May and events included in the 2023 programme.
