Healthy 51Âþ»
Healthy 51Âþ» is our university wide initiative to support your health and wellbeing while you study at university. There are lots of resources available to you both online and in person.
The Healthy 51Âþ» Hub is our one-stop shop of resources, hints and tips on managing your health and wellbeing. You can find support for your physical and mental health and also find out more about classes and events you can take part in.
There are also other ways of accessing support through Healthy 51Âþ»:
Masterclasses
These sessions support you and your studies while at 51Âþ» and we have developed an online programme which is available for you to book on to. You can go to as many as you wish and they are all free for 51Âþ» students.
Single Point of Access (SPA) appointments
These are a 45-minute appointment and an opportunity to discuss your situation with a member of support staff.
You will be offered advice on the day and referral to relevant support staff within student welfare. At the end of the appointment, you will be given an action plan of what to do next. You can book an appointment via .
Mindfulness
Learning to focus on the here and now can help to improve concentration and regular mindful practice can boost our feelings of wellbeing, helping to manage the distractions in our day to day life.
51Âþ» has a team of qualified Relaxation, Meditation and Mindfulness Instructors who offer sessions to students throughout the year, along with useful hints and tips for a mindful way of life. More can be found on the Healthy 51Âþ» Hub.
Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)
Lots of people do not consider their medical condition/mental health a disability and will often not apply for the support that is available to them. If you are eligible to receive DSA you could receive support towards the cost of lots of things to make it easier while studying at university.
Online Resources
Covid-19 has created many challenges especially for students. We have created an online resources section to help you practice self-care and boost your wellbeing whilst at home, including information of online sessions and videos to help you with social distancing too.
If you have any questions about Healthy 51Âþ» or the support available to students you can email wellbeing@dmu.ac.uk for more information.
