Confucius Institute holds Mid-Autumn Celebration


On September 29, the Mid-Autumn Festival of the Chinese lunar calendar, USTB-51Âþ»­ Confucius Institute (CI) held a Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration, marking the beginning of the first creative workshop at the USTB-51Âþ»­ CI in the autumn semester of 2023 academic year. Guests flocked to the site and the atmosphere was warm and lively.

Gu Wei, Director of the Confucius Institute, first delivered a lively opening speech, welcoming guests from all walks of life to visit the Confucius Institute, which is a warm and vibrant family, to welcome all guests to come together to celebrate this reunion festival. After the opening speech, other CI teachers introduced respectively the origin, customs and unique traditional Chinese cuisine of the Mid-Autumn Festival, allowing guests to have a deeper understanding of the rich culture and significance embedded in this traditional holiday.

Afterwards, teachers from the Confucius Institute presented wonderful performances including music ensemble, recitation and traditional ethnic dances. Their performance was so excellent that they won continuous applause from the audience. After enjoying these captivating performances, the CI initiated a riddle-solving activity, with guests enthusiastically raising their hands to participate. The funny and witty riddles triggered laughter and joy among the attendees, creating an exceptionally lively atmosphere.

Following the riddle-solving game, CI teachers invited guests to participate in cutting "Moon Rabbits" out of red paper and offered them the opportunity to taste and share mooncakes, the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival delicacy, which were greatly enjoyed by many guests.

This workshop not only makes many guests who have never participated in the Chinese cultural events more familiar with the Confucius Institute, but also brings the traditional Chinese festival culture to the university and enables more people to better understand the rich cultural connotation behind the Mid-Autumn Festival.
