Giving to the Trading Floor
Join us in breaking barriers and providing opportunity for our students in Finance and Accounting
Join us in breaking barriers and providing opportunity for disadvantaged and outstanding students in Finance and Accounting when you make a regular gift in support of the Trading Floor Project.
51Âþ» is committed to tackling the lack of equality and diversity on the Trading Floor. Given that our current finance students commonly come from low income and ethnic minority backgrounds (59.6% and 77.6% respectively) the disjoin comes in supporting these students transition into the world of work. Sponsoring these students can help ensure this happens.
When you make a regular gift in support of the Trading Floor sponsorship, you’ll be joining other alumni and friends of the University who together are helping offer the best in education, students’ opportunities and extra-curricular activities. Regular giving is an effective way to spread the cost of your donation throughout the year, and it also helps us to plan for the future. Your monthly, quarterly or annual contribution, given for as long as you comfortably can, will support partly or wholly the following initiatives:
- £500 as a one-off or annual donation (or £42 p/m) could provide a Named Prize for Top Performers, or it could also be used for a discretionary grant for supporting stipends so students can undertake work experience, travel to interviews or something as simple as to buy a smart new suit and pair of business shoes ahead of a crucial interview.
- £2,500 could support a 51Âþ» Global Trip for two students to New York Stock Exchange – this would hopefully inspire them to a future career, and help them stand out as a candidate in future interviews.
- £6,000 for a Made from More Scholarship. These would go to students from less advantaged or represented backgrounds (the exact criteria can be at donors’ discretion), and would be offered from second year. Providing £1,000 a term to our students has been shown to allow them the opportunity to focus on their studies to ensure the highest possible level of learning and degree result - lowering the “Degree Awarding Gap”. Additionally, it gives them time to write job applications, apply for and undertake summer placement schemes, or spend additional time with family they may have care responsibilities for.
You can make a regular gift or one-off donation via the Donation form below. If you wish to read more about the Trading Floor sponsorship opportunity and to know more about our mission in bridging the gap between Education and employment, please see the full Case for Support.
If making a one-off donation why not speak to your employer about ‘Match funding’, did you know some companies have match funding in place as part of their employee engagement schemes?
