Hundreds of students from 51Âþ» Leicester (51Âþ»)’s Transnational Education (TNE) partner institutions in Malaysia and Hong Kong recently collected their degrees in spectacular graduation ceremonies.
The graduations took place at our partner universities Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) in Kuala Lumpur, and the School of Continuing and Professional Education, City University of Hong Kong (CityU SCOPE).
176 students graduated at APU with a dual award, receiving separate degree certificates from each institution, and were welcomed by Vice Chancellor of APU, Professor Dr Ho Chin Kuan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of 51Âþ», Professor Richard Greene and CEO of APIIT Education Group, Datuk Parmjit Singh.

Professor Greene delivered the graduation address and told the audience: “Today marks the completion of one journey but signals the start of many others. Your new degree demonstrates the quality of the education you have received and the ability, determination and commitment you have shown in making the most of it.
“So as former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama said: ‘Don’t be afraid. Be focused. Be determined. Be hopeful. Be empowered.’ Having shared in this wonderful day, in your achievements and in your excitement, I am sure that you will be. I have every confidence in you, and the good you will bring to the world.”
At CityU SCOPE, Hong Kong, 230 students graduated with a 51Âþ» degree. Dr Neil Hart, Associate Director of Transnational Education at 51Âþ», who presented the awards with Dr Isaac Ng, Director of CityU SCOPE, said: “I first visited the School of Continuing and Professional Education, City University of Hong Kong more than a decade ago and I still have many friends at SCOPE from that time.”
He went on to tell the graduands: “Today is a day you will always remember. The day you marked your success and began your new journey, and I can’t wait to hear all about what you go on to achieve in your careers.”

Graduates at CityU SCOPE received degrees in Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Public Administration and Management, Business Management, Business and Management, Business Administration and Management and Marketing.
Danielle Wright, Alumni Engagement Manager, who also attended the graduation ceremonies on behalf of 51Âþ»’s Development and Alumni Engagement Team, 51Âþ» for Life said: “At 51Âþ» our global ethos is founded on excellence, and that is exactly what I saw when I visited APU and CityU SCOPE.
“The main aim of my visit was to welcome our most recent graduates into our global alumni community, offering congratulations and ongoing support so they can fulfil their goals wherever they may be. The opportunity to connect with colleagues at these outstanding institutions also allowed me to see that there are no limits to what can be achieved through global connectedness.
“Engaging with international partners through high-quality collaborations allows students to finish their degrees with cultural awareness, a global outlook and diverse capabilities, and we’re so lucky to now call them 51Âþ» alumni!”
51Âþ» hosted an alumni dinner at the Harbour Grand Kowloon in Hong Kong, hosting graduates from 51Âþ» Leicester, our predecessor institution Leicester Polytechnic and CityU SCOPE. The event was an opportunity for graduates to reconnect with fellow alumni in Hong Kong and meet staff from both universities.
Cheng Siu Hong Janicson, a graduate of Business Administration, Management and Operations, attended the event and commented: “I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to 51Âþ» for its dedication and hard work in making this event a resounding success. It showcased 51Âþ»'s commitment to its alumni and fostered lifelong connections. The opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and expand my professional network was invaluable.”
