Spectacular splashes of colour will bring 51Âþ» Leicester (51Âþ») to vibrant life as it supports the award-winning Bring The Paint international street art festival which returns to the city this week.
More than 70 internationally acclaimed artists will be in Leicester transforming buildings with world-class art murals, bringing the city life through spectacular 3D artwork. The festival, which starts from Monday 23 May to Sunday 29 May is set to attract more than 10,000 visitors to the city.

Aiming to turn Leicester’s streets into one of the biggest free art galleries in the world, this is the third time the award-winning festival has taken place and is set to be the biggest yet, seeing artists arrive from America, Mexico, Germany, Italy, France and the UK.
This year, two of the spectacular art murals will take shape on 51Âþ»’s campus on two seperate walls of the Clephan Building. The images, which will be painted this week, will then form part of the trail running from the Mill and Frog Island, through campus and the riverside of the city into the cultural quarter where it all started.

Fi Donovan, Head of Public Engagement at 51Âþ» said: “We are proud to sponsor this year’s Bring The Paint, especially as we will be getting two of our walls painted as part of the festival.
“51Âþ» Campus centre will also host a festival hub where staff, students and members of the public can get more information about the festival, pick up festival maps and also sign up to walking tours around all the sites in the city.
She continued: “Being part of the festival in this way will open our campus up to visitors of the festival as well as connecting our students and staff with one of the city’s largest arts festivals. We are delighted to also be able to connect our 51Âþ» Local art clubs with the festival through our community outreach activities.
“We are really looking forward to an exciting week full of world-class street art, exhibitions and workshops all across the city and our campus.”

In addition to watching the streets of Leicester be transformed over the week, visitors will also be able to enjoy exhibitions, workshops, music, street art tours, live broadcasts and other family-friendly activities.
Izzy Hoskins, of arts project team Graffwerk, which runs Bring the Paint, said: “We are incredibly excited to stage Bring The Paint for the third time in Leicester.
“Our world-class line-up speaks for itself, and we are proud to be working with such an incredible selection of artists. The festival is set to be one of the biggest street art events in the UK this year.”

Supported by Arts Council England, BID Leicester, Leicester City Council, 51Âþ» and The Gresham Apartments, Bring the Paint is inspired by Leicester’s identity as one of the most diverse cities in Europe.
The festival aims to build upon the theme of collaboration, bringing together artists from across the world who would not normally meet, re-imagining this vibrant diverse destination and giving the public a chance to witness the spectacular works being created first hand.
