How to access activity at the Queen Elizabeth II Leisure Centre

Step 1:

On your first visit, we will need to update your staff card with access to the areas and the lockers.

Step 2:

Would you like a centre tour? If you have never been into the QEII before why not let one of our team show you around. We can point you in the right direction of what activities might suit your style of training and usage. If you let us know in advance of when you would like this then we will book this for you.  Alternatively, you are welcome to come down and ask on arrival – but you may have to wait a few minutes if staff are already on a tour of the building.

Step 3:

Now you can start using us!

If you are interested in making the most of our facilities and programmes then follow the instructions below to make your use as smooth as possible:

Classes:

The class programme and information about each class can be found on the leisure centre webpages.  If you would like to speak to someone to get further information about any of our sessions then call us on Ext. 6400, option 1.  All classes have a maximum class size and as such must be booked in advance. Bookings for classes can be made by calling the leisure centre on Ext 6400, option 1 or by emailing us at leisure@dmu.ac.uk – if booking by email please provide your full name and P_Number so we can find your account and wait for a confirmation email that you are booked on.

PLEASE NOTE - Our booking pages open 6 days in advance for all members so book well in advance to not be disappointed!

ALL class - if you are unable to attend a booking please ensure you cancel the booking you have made.  This can be done by calling the leisure centre on Ext. 6400, option 1. The booking system will add non-attendance fines to any 'unused' space in a class automatically every morning.  We do not want you to get these so please bear this in mind. In addition, others may want to attend the class but cannot book on due to it being full!

Swimming Pool:

The and information about each session can be found on the leisure centre webpages.  If you would like to speak to someone to get further information about any of our sessions then call us on Ext. 6400, option 1. You do not have to book to use the swimming pool but do need to come between the designated times on the programme.  The pool does have maximum capacity levels but we will endeavour to inform you on arrival if these have already been met (it is rare that this happens!). If you intend attending sessions with children then please speak to staff about adult to child ratios and the correct sessions to attend.

PLEASE NOTE: 'Lane sessions' are for people who can swim unassisted without swimming aids.  The session requires the individual to swim lengths of the pool. Our pool is staffed by a qualified team of lifeguards to ensure your safety, and that of others throughout.  Please ensure you wear appropriate swimwear.

Sauna:

Our sauna is found on poolside and is available to be used whilst the pool is open for programmed sessions. Please ensure if using the sauna you wear the appropriate swim wear and have a towel with you to sit on.  Follow the usage information on the signs provided and if you have any questions speak to a member of the team.

Further Information:

All information on the centre, our programmes and our opening times can be found on the University Webpages.  To find our pages enter Campus -> Leisure Services

We can be contacted at leisure@dmu.ac.uk or call us on Ext.6400, Option 1.
