Children were sent on their very own space mission when they took part in the competition.
Nine schools from across Leicester competed in the regional heat of the competition, which aims to challenge children to think like scientists and engineers.

This year’s contest, which was called Into Orbit, saw schoolchildren asked to build, test and code an autonomous robot using Lego technology. Their robots were then put to the test and given a series of different missions on a space theme to perform.
The event was organised by #51Âþ»local at 51Âþ» Leicester (51Âþ»). Student volunteers have been going into participating schools during the autumn term helping children to get their robots ready.
Prizes were awarded for teamwork, presentation skills, how well the robot was designed and best new team.
