51Âþ» Leicester (51Âþ») alumni from across Leicestershire had the chance to connect with each other at a reception held at 45 West Bottle Shop & Bar in Leicester.
This is the first Alumni Club to be set up in Leicester, where alumni came together and met with other former 51Âþ» students.

The aim of the event was to enhance networking skills, establish professional contacts and share experiences.
Sam Carruthers, who graduated from 51Âþ» in 2013 with a BA Hons in Government and Politics, described the reception as ‘a fantastic idea.’
He said: “Over the last few years 51Âþ» has been really keen on getting us more involved in networking and catching up and looking for more mutually beneficial opportunities and this is a prime example of how that can be used to enhance employability in the city.”
Recent Business and Marketing graduate Armani Allen thought the event was ‘brilliant.’
“I met amazing people with different experiences from different backgrounds. I have come here to meet new people, very ambitious people, and I’ve learned a lot.”
When asked what #51Âþ»forlife means to the alumni, Kelly McCormack, who graduated in 2009 in Psychology, said: “It’s a pride thing, you want to shout about where you went and the memories that you had and the friends that you made and the connections that you created.”
Both Armani and Sam said it means a lot to them.
Armani added: “I’m really glad that the university is making an effort for graduates to get more opportunities.”
Sam said: “#51Âþ»forlife makes complete sense in terms of personal development and developing the next generation of people to come through the university.
“So it is something I am personally keen to get involved in and look forward to any opportunities it presents.”
Kelly gave a message to students at 51Âþ». She said: “Enjoy your time, don’t stress too much.
“I’m a very different person now than what I was when I started my degree and I think a lot of that is due to 51Âþ», so don’t worry.”
