Accounting BSc (Hons) module details

Financial Reporting and Accounting 

This is a highly technical module intended to allow the development of skills required to prepare consolidated financial statements through application of relevant financial reporting standards. Additionally, candidates will understand how to calculate ratios from these statements, and use these calculations to effectively analyse the companies 

Performance Management 

This module is a mixture of highly-technical accounting techniques and a theoretical application of management accounting fundamentals. This will provide students with the knowledge to provide advice and support to internal stakeholders on financial based decisions. 

Corporate Finance 

By undertaking this module, students are introduced to the main principles of corporate financial decision-making. Analytically, using normative economic theory as the basic philosophical foundation, students are exposed to the four essential parts of business finance: Financing decisions, corporate investment decisions, the selection of a suitable dividend policy and the management and forecasting of working capital. 

Taxation 

This module introduces candidates to the subject of taxation and provides the core knowledge of the underlying principles and major technical areas of taxation as they affect the activities of individuals and businesses. 

Critical Skills for Accountants 

The module aims to provide students with an understanding of the academic and professional skills required to successfully navigate the UK Higher Education system and qualify as a chartered accountant. It will allow students to obtain and demonstrate their understanding of key business, academic and personal skills necessary for success.
