Research culture
51Âþ» has a vibrant and active research culture, supported by our ambitious Research Strategy. As a university committed to the public good, we pursue research that impacts society and makes a real difference to people’s live.
We see research students as an integral part of that pursuit, especially making a strong contribution to our research and impact. This is evident in the projects they pursue, their publications, and their involvement in addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Doctoral College contributes to 51Âþ»’s research culture through our mission to provide our research students, academic supervisors and researchers with the appropriate support, governance systems, and encouragement to develop and thrive intellectually and professionally, and achieve their fullest potential. We aim to enrich the intellectual life of the University, enabling research students to carry out advanced study and prepare for academic and professional life, developing excellent research skills that enhance their future career whether in academia or more widely.
As part of this mission, we provide a comprehensive Researcher Development Programme and an annual Doctoral College Showcase. Our full offering of support, training, and more can be viewed on our Researcher Development page.
