Theatre performance to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS comes to 51Âþ»­


A free theatre performance called '' is coming to 51Âþ»­ next week to tell the stories of young people affected by HIV or AIDS.

The performance will be 30 minutes long and will take place on Thursday 30 January at 12.30pm in Hawthorn Building 00.05. All 51Âþ»­ staff and students are welcome to attend.

 is a charity which aims to create more awareness of HIV and AIDS within universities and city-based groups. 

Benjamin Feist, a Postgraduate Advanced Clinical Practice student who volunteers with Youth Stop Aids and worked to bring the performance to 51Âþ»­, said: “I got involved with Youth Stop AIDS and was a founding member of the London Local group and subsequently the Parliamentary Lead. As a Youth Stop AIDS leader I hope to promote the organisation and create awareness opportunities for people to learn about HIV/AIDS.”

“The cast from Are You Positive has worked with Youth Stop AIDS to bring performances to a greater number of young people and have kindly agreed to come outside of London.”

The event will be followed by a Q&A session with the Are You Positive? cast and Benjamin. Any questions are welcome, including HIV testing, transmission, and the difference between HIV and AIDS.
