51Âþ» students are warmly invited to celebrate Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rat at the Spring Festival. It takes place from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday 29 January at The Venue@51Âþ».
Entertainment on the night will include Lion Dancers, calligraphy, Musician, Tang Dynasty Dancing and Thai Chi Fan dance to help kick start the celebrations. There will also be Year of the Rat themed games and the opportunity to take fun Polaroid pictures to take home with you.
There will also be a stand promoting local businesses, as well as traditional food and drinks.

Join the procession!
Here’s your chance to be involved in Leicester’s exciting Chinese New Year celebrations on Sunday 26 January.
Organisers Cosmopolitan Arts is looking for participants to join a magnificent procession as part of the city celebrations, supported by BID Leicester and 51Âþ». It will start at Jubilee Square passing the Clock Tower and finishing at New Market Square.
Volunteers are needed to add vibrancy and colour by carrying parasols, paper lanterns and a five-metre long Chinese dragon. All of the props will be supplied.
Please arrive at Jubilee Square by 2.30pm for a 3pm start.
The procession will be directly followed by an event in New Market Square with a DJ, large scale animated film, and performances.
