Course overview

Project management is crucial in all business fields, from the financial sector and information technology to healthcare and public services. With more organisations defining their activities as projects, the demand for qualified project managers is growing.

This course has been designed to meet the increasing demand for effective project management across all industries and sectors. The system emphasises equipping students with skills and expertise to plan and practice project management in global business and social environments and emerging trends influencing project management, such as virtual and hybrid work.

It provides a career entry, or further development, in the discipline of Project Management, beyond its traditional confines of engineering and construction, as applicable to enterprise management theory and practice. A central emphasis of the programme is a focus on responsible project management (RPM) to assist students in understanding how project management can impact and improve society.

Entry criteria

  • Applicants will typically hold an undergraduate degree with a minimum pass of 2:2 or equivalent overseas qualification. 
  • Professional qualifications deemed to be of equivalent standing will be considered on an individual basis. 
  • Work experience is not a requirement. However, applications from those without formal qualifications but with significant professional experience in the relevant field will be considered individually

 

International Students 

If English language was not the medium of instruction in your previous academic qualification, an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent when you start the course is essential. Students with other qualifications may also be considered.

Teaching and assessments

You will be taught through a combination of workshops, lectures, projects and online resources.

Over the whole programme, there is a varied mix of assessment including: presentations, case study analysis, individual exercises, report writing, and essay writing. These are developed during the module with the opportunity for in-class formative feedback. Learners will also be issued in advance with a proposed timetable of assessments in order to ensure that academic work is timed appropriately and that students are provided with an opportunity to effectively plan and manage their time and workloads.

Contact and learning hours

This is a full-time course and in total you should be prepared to devote approximately 2 hours of lectures, 6 hours of workshop and 2 hours of asynchronous activity each week.
