CELEBRATING DIVERSITY, CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
Our collaboration with the Curve theatre continues to provide our Drama and Theatre Arts BA (Hons) students with the opportunity to work and perform in a professional environment. Our annual Curve and 51Âþ» co-production presents a brand-new retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Adapted and directed by Curve’s Associate Director Cara Nolan.
IIn previous years, as part of our association with Curve, Drama and Theatre Arts students have performed in: Road (2023) by Jim Cartwright; Oh What a Lovely War (2022) by Joan Littlewood; Blood Wedding, (2021) by Federico García Lorca’s; Enron (2019)., by Lucy Prebble; The Crucible (2018) by Arthur Miller; A Clockwork Orange (2017) by Anthony Burgess; Our Day Out (2016) by Willy Russell; Our Country's Good (2015) by Timberlake Wertenbaker; Mother Clap's Molly House (2014), by Mark Ravenhill; Fen and Serious Money (2013) by Caryl Churchill; The Laramie Project (2012), by Tectonic Theatre; Greek and East (2011), two plays by iconic British playwright Steven Berkoff.
The project provides an exciting opportunity for our students to work on challenging theatrical texts within a professional environment.
As part of the collaboration, students gain valuable experience as assistant directors and assistant stage managers.
Our students have also been cast in leading and supporting roles in other major productions at Curve as part of Curve's Young Company and its annual Community Production.
