Former graduates of 51Âþ» Leicester (51Âþ»)’s Law School were back among the books to see one of the UK’s biggest legal firms sponsor its law library.

Law graduates Tara Wright and Katie Sheehan, who both completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at 51Âþ», plus paralegal Meera Tailor, joined Acting Head of Leicester De Montfort Law School, Tim Hillier, to officially open the Irwin Mitchell Law Library.
All three now work for Irwin Mitchell, which is one of the biggest medical negligence specialists in the country. The firm retains close links with 51Âþ», sponsoring prizes for high-achieving students and providing real-world experience for students.
Tara and Katie have also just become mentors as part of 51Âþ»’s Meet the Practitioner programme. LPC and GDL students are matched with practitioners to get advice and support on their careers.

Tara is due to qualify as a Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell. She joined the firm as a paralegal whilst studying the LPC, and has now successfully completed a training contract. Katie and Meera are both paralegals.
“Having a mentor while I was at 51Âþ» did make a difference,” Katie said. “You had someone to talk to and learn from, and it did help build your network. We all want to give something back to the profession.”
The trio all work for Irwin Mitchell in its Birmingham office. The company has branches across the country.
