Sporting student Jack Morton got the cricketing experience of his life when he was 12th man for Leicestershire against Sri Lanka’s national side.

Jack, who plays for 51Âþ»­ Cricket, was chosen to be part of the Foxes’ team for the three-day Tourist game at the Fischer County Ground, Grace Road which ended as a draw.

Jack said: “It was a great experience to stand shoulder to shoulder with both the Leicestershire and Sri Lankan players and I was made very welcome by everyone at the Fischer County Ground.

“I’ve picked up on a lot about the difference between recreational and professional cricket from my three days with the two teams and their support staff and coaches which I would never have been able to do without the opportunity.

“It was great to be able to ask county and international level players questions about the game and get answers which hopefully I’ll be able to input into my own cricket.”

This week Sri Lanka are playing in the final Test at Lord’s. England have already won the series after winning he first two games and are looking for the 3-0 whitewash.

 Leicestershire CCC opener Angus Robson was captain for the game, and said that Jack's help was invaluable to the team.

He said: "Jack had the chance to come on to the field for us and as it was very hot over that weekend, he was working very hard bringing refreshments to the players. It was a unique opportunity for Jack and it was great to have him as part of our team."
