Students were rewarded for three main categories of achievement – a Certificate of Outstanding Achievement for overall high achievement on a full time degree programme or high achievement in an individual subject; the Year Average Improvement Award for those who have demonstrated exceptional improvement in the transition from first to second year and the School of Law Tutors’ Commendation for those students identified as deserving merit by individual subject tutors.

In the past year, the law school has also celebrated success, winning top student satisfaction ratings in the National Student Survey, which asks students across the country to rate their courses. It has the most satisfied law students in the Midlands and was rated in the top 15 of law schools in the country. It also has 85% of its students in graduate employment or further study within six months of graduating.

Tim Hillier, Acting Head of School, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate the achievement of so many students.

“The awards presented provide formal recognition of real ability and effort. We are proud of all our students at Leicester De Montfort Law School but today we would like to say a particular ‘Well Done and Congratulations’ to our awards winners – and keep up the good work!”

Among the prizewinners was Rodney Marufu. Rodney, who is set to graduate this summer, got Firsts in all his modules last year and has just picked up prizes for his performance over the second year.

He won a Tutors’ Commendation, Law and Criminal Justice programme award, module prizes in Law of Tort, Family Law and Land Law,  “I’m a bit shocked to be honest,” he said. “I work hard but I did not expect to get so many certificates. I’m very pleased.”
