I have a professional background in Pharmacy specifically as a Lab-Pharmacist. I have then taken an MSc degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology where as part of my project dissertation I have developed a pharmacological project working on the analysis of different medicines on the neurodegenerative disease, Parkinson disease. This research has led to the current proposal for my PhD project.

Title
'Targeting degenerative phenotypes and mitochondrial dysfunction in Drosophila models of neurodegenerative diseases.
Abstract
This project comprises a multidisciplinary approach involving neuropharmacology, molecular biology and Drosophila genetics to identify mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases and novel therapeutic approaches to takle these diseases. The project will focus on age related neurodegeneration models (Parkinson's and Alzheimer's) and will extend on models of mitochondrial diseases which present neurodegeneration phenotype in childhood.
