Personal profile

Within my 16 years as a Surgical Nurse, I worked predominantly in an Acute environment (General Surgery, Urology and Vascular). Although I have worked in an Elective environment too. My passion is Nursing Assessment (and DPIE) within these environments and preparing the patient either for Theatre or for Conservative Management. My interests are the Gastrointestinal Tract.

In these 16 years, I was a Mentor (Practice Assessor) for 15 years. I enjoyed seeing pre-registration students gradually develop and becoming confident practitioners. In 2016 I became Practice Development Nurse – my role was predominantly supporting International Nurses gain their UK NMC Registration and integrating them within the practice environment.

I joined 51Âþ» in December 2021 as a Clinical Skills Lecturer. And in 2023 I became a Senior Lecturer.

My interests and passions are: General Surgery, Urology, Acute Pain, Prescribing, GI Tract, Nursing Process, Clinical Skills, Empowering Students.
