Personal profile

Dr Adekunle Ogunsade joined Leicester Castle Business School, 51Âþ»­ in September 2016 as an Associate Lecturer and subsequently appointed as a Lecturer in Business and Management in September 2018. Before joining 51Âþ»­, he held a Part-time Lecturing post in Leicester international College and built up over a decade industry experience at very senior levels in government departments and financial institutions in Nigeria. 

As Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Adekunle leverages on industry and research experience to advance excellent teaching and innovative classroom practice. Adekunle teaches both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has also served as programme leader for level 6 top-up BA (Hons) Business and Management and currently the Module leader for Global Business and Finance. 

His research portfolio includes international journals and book chapter publications, conference proceedings, symposium and research funding. Adekunle is a reviewer for leading peer-reviewed journals. Also, an investigator with a team of researchers on various ongoing research projects including Fin Tech Innovation Network Project exploring the ecosystem framework and emerging opportunities across Africa. He is the Co-Founder and Vice President of the International Network of Scholars for Youth Enterprise Africa Project (YEAP), an organization that fosters youth innovative start-ups and expand research collaboration between academics and practitioners. His research interests are around Institutional Entrepreneurship, Small Business innovation, Entrepreneurship Education and Business Start-ups. He is also interested in PhD students with similar interests.

Research interests/expertise

Building on his professional and PhD research background, Adekunle’s research cuts across disciplinary areas that include institutional entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystem, entrepreneurial governance and policy framework. Additionally, Adekunle is keenly interested in entrepreneurial orientation and new venture creation, small business innovation and strategy, entrepreneurship education and business continuity. Particularly, his research works explore the connection between theory and practice to offer unique insights into issues relating to formal and informal institutional environments, and charting policy framework for emerging entrepreneurial opportunities across Africa.
